I tried a new technique today. I may do the same to my 68 Baskets (Black ones) but without further wait.
Here are some photos. Comments and questions welcome.

Yeah those look clean, I like how they turned out.  About how long did the whole process take you?

I think they look amazing Ruf!!! That textured gold surface is very neat. I was taking a closer looks at all the photos - how did you apply that gold 'Rub & buff', with what kind of applicator/brush/etc? Does is dry "into" the leather, or is it more of a top coat?

So I masked off the areas where I did not want to get the rub and buff. Then I added small amounts rubbing it in. on and over the leather. It starts out like shoe polish, but quickly gets harder. It dried in about 15 mins, and then I buffed it up with a paper towel.  Removed the Blue tape, and touched up any areas that seemed thin.  That was it.  I wore them to work and they flexed just like the R's normally would. They are stiffer than normal Baskets, but they always were.
